Our Mission
Know enough to ask the right questions.
Nexairi exists because AI is restructuring accounting and finance faster than any trade publication can keep up — and the practitioners doing the work are the last to get a straight answer about what it means for them.
We sit between the AI world and the accounting world and do the translation work neither side is doing consistently. Same-day coverage when tools change. Honest reviews when vendors overpromise. Implementation guides written for the solo CPA and the 10-person firm — not the enterprise with an innovation budget.
About Nexairi
Finance Intelligence. Written for practitioners, not platforms.
We sit between the AI world and the accounting world and do the translation work neither side is doing consistently — same-day coverage, CPA-reviewed analysis, and practical tools built for small and mid-size firms.
Why We Exist
When a new AI model drops, three things happen: AI publications cover the benchmarks, accounting publications schedule a webinar for six weeks later, and the solo CPA reading her inbox on Monday has no idea what any of it means for her practice.
Nexairi was built to close that gap. We cover what's happening in AI and translate it directly into accounting and finance workflows — same-day, in plain language, for the small and mid-size practitioner. Not for enterprises with innovation teams. Not for institutional associations with editorial calendars measured in months.
For the CPA with twelve clients, the controller at a forty-person company, the three-person firm trying to understand whether QuickBooks AI is worth the upgrade — this is the briefing built for you.
Nexairi publishes original analysis, honest tool reviews, and practitioner-level implementation guides across AI accounting software, AP automation, cash flow forecasting, and CFO strategy. We cite our sources. We name our experts. We correct our mistakes publicly on our corrections page.
Who We Are
Jim Smart
Founder · AI & Data Intelligence
Jim spent his career in data analytics at enterprise scale — building the kind of reporting infrastructure that AI is now quietly replacing. He didn't watch that shift from the outside. He lived it. That experience is the editorial foundation of Nexairi: not theory about what AI might do to your job, but a practitioner's read of what it actually does, in what order, and what it means for the people doing the work today.
Jim holds active certifications in AI implementation and large-language model applications, including certifications through Anthropic's Claude platform. He covers AI model releases, tool evaluations, and the practical intersection of AI with accounting and finance workflows.
Sydney Smart, CPA
CPA · CFO · Controller
Sydney is a licensed CPA who works as a CFO and Controller with real clients, real financials, and real decisions every day. She reviews Nexairi's accounting and finance coverage to ensure it reflects how the work actually gets done — not how it's described in a vendor press release or a governance framework written six months after the tools changed.
When Jim asks "what does this AI feature mean for accounting workflows," Sydney is the practitioner with the answer. Her lens is practical, skeptical, and grounded in client advisory work at small and mid-size businesses — which is exactly the audience Nexairi is built for.
Simply Smart Consulting — CPA & CFO Advisory →How We Work
Every piece follows the same editorial rhythm: what happened in AI, which accounting or finance workflow it touches, and what you should — or don't need to — do about it. That three-beat structure is deliberate. It's the difference between being informed and being useful.
We use AI to enhance research, analysis, and drafting — and we're transparent about it. Jim brings the AI and data expertise. Sydney brings the accounting credibility. Neither alone is sufficient. Together they cover the translation gap that every other publication in this space leaves open.
Every article is fact-checked and written for intelligent readers who don't have computer science degrees or time to attend a webinar about it.
What Makes Us Different
Same-Day Coverage
When a new model drops or a major accounting platform ships an AI feature, we publish what it means for your workflows within 24 hours. Most accounting publications catch up weeks later — if at all.
The Translation Layer
AI publications cover model releases without mentioning your audit workflow. Accounting publications cover AI governance six weeks late. We sit in the middle and do the translation work neither side is doing.
Built for Small Firms
Enterprise CFOs have innovation teams. We write for the solo CPA, the 10-person firm, and the controller at a 40-person company — the practitioners nobody else is building for with urgency.
What We Cover
AI Accounting Software
Honest, practitioner-level reviews of QuickBooks AI, Xero, Botkeeper, and every platform adding AI to the accounting workflow.
AP & Finance Automation
AP automation, bookkeeping automation, and finance ops — what to automate first, which tools to use, and how to build a stack that holds together.
Cash Flow & Forecasting
AI-powered forecasting tools, cash flow visibility, and FP&A for small and mid-size businesses that don't have a full finance team.
CFO & Controller Strategy
How to lead a finance function through AI adoption — what to implement, what to skip, and how to manage the compliance and audit trail questions that come with it.
Know enough to ask the right questions.
The Finance Brief delivers AI-to-accounting translation three times a week. Five minutes. Written for the practitioners doing the work.
